Review: e.l.f Beauty Shield Recharging Magnetic Mask
Oh, the irony! This mask has a magnetic personality.
While perusing the beauty isles of my local Target I stumbled across e.l.f’s Beauty Shield Mask Kit. Like a siren beckoning, the shiny holographic packaging called, and in my cart it went without any knowledge of the product. Being an eternal optimist I assumed the risk and committed to the hope of this being a $24 jewel. In the back of my mind I was also leary that this could be a glitter turd…crap wrapped up in a nice package.

When I got home I put away the remaining $100 worth of purchases. Which by the way, the intent of my trip to Target was to buy laundry detergent. Just.laundry.detergent. Damn you Target, you win again! I swear that it’s impossible to leave Target without spending at least $100 on stuff. Ahhh, I digress.
Back to the review…
Antioxidants, Beauty Shield has antioxidants, who doesn’t like antioxidants?!?!?! However Beauty Shield differs from other masks due to the formula containing iron powder. Iron powder makes the mask magnetic! The thought behind magnetic masks is that it they may increase skin circulation and stimulate collagen production.. As we age less collagen is produce by our bodies which in results older looking skin.
Mask, magic mask!
Each kit comes with a small jar of the magnetic mask, a magnetic wand and 20 plastic wand covers. Built into the design, the handle of the wand also serves as the mask applicator! Ahhh, that is genus! Dark gray in color the product has a velvety texture that glides over the skin. It smells delicious but it’s probably best if you don’t try to eat the mask. Once the mask is applied to a clean dry face, it sits for 5 to 10 minutes.
It’s attractive!
Now for the fun part! Unlike other masks, this formula won’t dry and harden on your face. When the time comes to remove the product, first you place a cover over the wand and then slowly glide the wand over your face. The magnetic wand pulls the product off of your skin leaving a relatively clean face. The area around the nose is particularly difficult to remove all the mask.
How positive!
When all the mask is removed from your face, you just have to peel off the wand cover for an easy clean up. After using this mask my skin felt amazing. My face was soft, smooth and glowing. Over all, I would buy another jar when I run out. One downside of this kit is that the jar of mask is pretty small and you get maybe 4 applications before it’s gone. I thought at one point you could purchase just the mask on the e.l.f website but now I can only seem to find the kit. The novelty of the product makes it fun to use. It turns out that this product is not a glitter turd but instead is a jewel of a product find.
Have you tried this product? What are your favorite beauty masks?
